Your files stay on your Mac

Onpeek runs search and indexing locally. No accounts, advertising or automatic uploads.

You choose what to index

Select a source, then explicitly choose Index. Removal affects derived data, not originals.

Privacy Policy

Your chosen files are processed on your Mac. Onpeek does not upload your library or searches.

Who to contact

For privacy questions, correction requests about information you send us, support, or security concerns, contact letsdevelop8@gmail.com. The legal publisher identity and release territories must be finalised before public distribution.

What the app reads and why

You choose supported local folders or individual recordings. Photos access is optional. Adding or connecting a source does not start indexing: you separately choose Index or Refresh.

For local search, the app reads supported file contents and metadata, extracts document/OCR text, renders previews, creates numerical embeddings and records locations such as pages or media timestamps. It may retain filenames, paths, read-only access bookmarks, source/asset identifiers, revision information, short snippets, thumbnails, audio waveforms, detected face rectangles and person labels you explicitly enter. Embeddings and labels can reveal personal information; they are not anonymous data.

Processing stays on device

OCR uses Apple Vision. EmbeddingGemma 2 and the retrieval runtime run locally with bundled resources. Onpeek does not send your files, extracted content, embeddings or queries to Google, OpenAI or the developer. It does not train a model on your content. The app has no advertising, analytics, tracking SDK, automatic crash uploader, cloud inference, microphone recording or network-client entitlement.

Search queries and decoded previews are held in memory for the active session, not kept as a search-history database. Public legal text is bundled separately from your encrypted library.

Optional media access

Photos is requested only after your Connect action and macOS consent. Apple names this permission category read/write; Onpeek's implemented operations read only and do not add, edit or delete assets. Index remains a separate action. Its PhotoKit requests disable network downloads and skip unavailable cloud-only or hidden items. Video originals may not reflect nondestructive Photos edits.

Photo Booth access is limited to images beneath Pictures in the library package you explicitly select. Music metadata access is optional and also requires read-only selection of a local media folder before Index. Protected/cloud-only tracks are skipped. Voice Memos recordings must be individually selected or exported by you to an accessible local folder. Onpeek does not inspect private Music, Voice Memos or Photos databases, and never records audio or video.

Storage, encryption and unlock

Derived library records, extracted text, previews, labels, bookmarks and unfinished indexing progress are stored in AES-GCM encrypted app-owned storage. The library key is kept in Onpeek's own nonsynchronising Keychain item. The full-text/vector search index operates in memory. Static model/runtime caches contain model resources, not an app-maintained plaintext copy of your library.

Protected-key mode uses macOS authentication with Touch ID where available and OS-managed password fallback. The app does not receive fingerprint templates or your Mac password. One authorised key session serves the library until lock, sleep or quit. OS memory, swap, system diagnostics and other applications are outside an absolute zero-remnant guarantee.

For compatibility, internal bundle, storage and Keychain identifiers retain the historical LocalFind name. Changing the visible brand does not reset or migrate your saved library.

Retention, removal and permission withdrawal

The local derived library remains until you remove a source or remove the saved library. Interrupted indexing may retain encrypted progress for an explicit later resume. Removing a source covers its derived index, labels, previews and pending progress; independent copies in another indexed source require their own removal.

Use Manage Sources to remove a source, or Settings > Remove Saved Library to remove all indexed/pending library data. Wait for verified cleanup; Cleanup pending means retry is needed. Original files are never deleted or modified. Removing a file in Finder requires a successful explicit Refresh to remove its indexed copy. A failed refresh may preserve the prior index with a notice.

Revoking folder or Photos permission prevents further authorised reads but does not itself erase the existing encrypted index. Remove the source/library separately. OS permission settings and other viewers are independent. Removal does not destroy all Keychain configuration/key copies or guarantee forensic erasure from SSDs, system snapshots, backups or other apps. A Reader window already opened remains an independent original-file viewer.

Support and security correspondence

There is no in-app account or automatic support upload. If you voluntarily email us, we receive your address, message and any attachments through the email provider. Send only the minimum information necessary; do not send private documents, library archives, passwords, access bookmarks or encryption keys. We use correspondence to answer your request, investigate issues, protect users and meet applicable legal obligations, not for advertising.

You may request access, correction or deletion of correspondence by email. We will explain any necessary ongoing investigation, dispute or legal-retention exception. A support-record retention schedule and responsible publisher must be approved before public release. We cannot remotely inspect or erase your on-device library.

Children and other people's information

The app has no child-directed advertising or behavioural tracking. Local files can nevertheless contain children's or other people's personal information. Only index content you are authorised to access and process. A device permission is not permission from everyone named or pictured in a file. Applicable age/parental-consent requirements and business-use responsibilities depend on the release territories and processing role; these must be assessed before public distribution. This policy does not claim a blanket offline exemption.

Other apps, operating system and this website

Opening a source in Finder, a separate Reader or another default app is an explicit handoff. Those apps, Apple services, system crash reporting and user-enabled synchronisation/backups have their own behaviour and policies. Onpeek's offline statements describe its own operations, not all activity on your Mac.

The companion page is static: no analytics scripts, embedded third-party assets, forms, advertising cookies or application-data upload endpoint. Its hosting provider may receive normal web-request information such as IP address and user agent under its own policy. Following an external link or sending email uses your chosen browser or mail provider; it is not an upload by the Onpeek search engine.

Changes and questions

This document has a version date. Material changes to data handling should be explained before new processing begins. Contact letsdevelop8@gmail.com for privacy concerns or help using local removal controls. Mandatory rights under applicable law are not waived by this policy.

Support & Security

A direct contact and safe reporting instructions. No private files are needed for an initial report.

Contact

Email letsdevelop8@gmail.com. For general help use subject Onpeek support. For suspected unauthorised access, exposure of content, malicious files, or release-signing compromise use subject Onpeek security report. Include your app version, macOS version, a short description and when you noticed the issue. We do not ask for passwords, recovery keys or remote access to your Mac.

Safe bug reports

First describe the steps and the visible error code. If a sample is necessary, create a nonsensitive example yourself. Review and redact any screenshot or operating-system crash report before sending: these can contain paths, filenames, identifiers and other private information. Do not attach your encrypted library or original personal files.

Security reports

Please report privately by email before publishing exploit details. Use only your own device/data or explicitly authorised synthetic fixtures. Do not access another person's files, accounts or systems. This reporting invitation is not a bug bounty, permission for intrusive testing, or a promise to waive anyone else's rights.

The developer will triage scope and severity, preserve proportionate evidence, contain confirmed problems, prepare a tested fix and determine applicable notification duties. Operational response targets, contact ownership and coverage must be confirmed before public release; this page does not promise round-the-clock staffing or a guaranteed response time.

Search, formats and refresh

Search scores are similarities, not probabilities of correctness. OCR, visual/audio understanding and supported formats have limitations. Unsupported, unsafe, encrypted, cloud-only or package content may be skipped with notices. Office previews are extracted representations, not guaranteed exact original layouts. Source changes are recognised through explicit Refresh; there is no automatic whole-disk watcher.

The initial Mac build targets Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later. Only capabilities actually tested for a release should be advertised. An iPhone/iPad version is not included in this Mac release.

Remove your local search data

Remove Source in Manage Sources removes that source's derived data; Remove Saved Library in Settings removes the indexed library and unfinished progress. Originals remain untouched. If cleanup is pending, retry and wait for verified completion. Revoking access alone does not erase old index data. Read the Privacy Policy for the complete deletion boundaries.

App Licence & Usage

Free local search, your original content, and separate third-party licences.

App Store licence

For an App Store-distributed copy, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies unless the publisher expressly supplies a valid replacement. These usage explanations do not replace that agreement, override third-party open-source licences, or exclude mandatory consumer rights.

Your content and authorised use

You retain your rights in your original files. Onpeek does not claim ownership of them. Only index or name people/content where you have the relevant authority and lawful purpose. Do not use search results as proof of identity, a safety-critical determination, or a guarantee that a document collection is complete.

Free release and limitations

This planned release is free and has no in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertising or payment collection. Future changes require their own disclosures. Back up originals independently. Key loss or damaged app storage may require reindexing; removal cannot guarantee physical erasure from every system copy. No statement here promises perfect recognition, perpetual support or immunity from security vulnerabilities.

Third-party components and marks

EmbeddingGemma 2, LiteRT-LM, MediaPipe-derived retrieval code and other bundled open-source components remain subject to their own applicable licences and attributions. The Licences section provides the packaged texts and review status. A model or library name identifies its source; it does not imply Google, Apple or OpenAI endorses Onpeek.

The user reports that the supplied Onpeek artwork was generated using ChatGPT. Rights/provenance records and trademark review remain separate from the application's functional testing. This draft does not claim registered trademark status or exclusive rights to AI-generated imagery.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE, REPRODUCTION, AND DISTRIBUTION

   1. Definitions.

"License" shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction,
and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document.

"Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by
the copyright owner that is granting the License.

"Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all
other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common
control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition,
"control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the
direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or
otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the
outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.

"You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity
exercising permissions granted by this License.

"Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications,
including but not limited to software source code, documentation
      source, and configuration files.

"Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical
transformation or translation of a Source form, including but
not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation,
and conversions to other media types.

"Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or
Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a
copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work
(an example is provided in the Appendix below).

"Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object
form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the
editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications
represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes
of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of,
the Work and Derivative Works thereof.

"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of
the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted"
means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent
to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to
communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems,
and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the
Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but
excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise
designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."

"Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity
on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and
      subsequently incorporated within the Work.

   2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the
Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.

   3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
(except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made,
use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work,
where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable
by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their
Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s)
with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You
institute patent litigation against any entity (including a
cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work
or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct
or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses
granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate
as of the date such litigation is filed.

   4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the
Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without
modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You
      meet the following conditions:

      (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or
Derivative Works a copy of this License; and

      (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices
stating that You changed the files; and

      (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works
that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and
attribution notices from the Source form of the Work,
excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of
          the Derivative Works; and

      (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its
distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must
include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained
within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not
pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one
of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed
as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or
documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or,
within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and
wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents
of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and
do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution
notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside
or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed
          as modifying the License.

You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and
may provide additional or different license terms and conditions
for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or
for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use,
reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with
the conditions stated in this License.

   5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,
any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work
by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of
this License, without any additional terms or conditions.
Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify
the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed
      with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

   6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade
names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor,
except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the
origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.

   7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or
agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each
Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS,
WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or
implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions
of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the
appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any
risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.

   8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,
whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

   9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing
the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer,
and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity,
or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this
License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only
on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf
of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify,
defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability
incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason
of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.

   END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

APPENDIX: How to apply the Apache License to your work.

To apply the Apache License to your work, attach the following
boilerplate notice, with the fields enclosed by brackets "[]"
replaced with your own identifying information. (Don't include
the brackets!) The text should be enclosed in the appropriate
comment syntax for the file format. We also recommend that a
file or class name and description of purpose be included on the
same "printed page" as the copyright notice for easier
      identification within third-party archives.

"Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by

"Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all

control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition,
"control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the
direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or
otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the

"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of

   2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of

      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,

   3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of

          the Derivative Works; and

   6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade

whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
